Is your listing doing its job?

Tick what your Google Business listing already has. You get a plain score and the three things to fix first. It goes by what you tell it, and it never promises a ranking.

Your answers are worked out in your browser. Nothing is fetched, stored or sent.

The tool

The listing name is exactly your business name, as on your signboard

No added keywords or locations.

The main category is right and you have added the other categories that fit
The address, service area and map pin are correct and the pin sits on your entrance
Opening hours are correct, including holidays and any special days
The phone number is answered in business hours and the website link opens a useful page
There are recent photos of the entrance, the inside, the team and your work

Photos you took, not stock images.

Your services or products are listed with a short plain description each
You ask happy customers for reviews and reply to every review, good or bad
You post an update or an offer now and then
Someone checks and answers messages and questions on the listing
Your name, address and phone number are written the same way on your website and social profiles

How it works.

  • What it asks about

The things a local customer checks before choosing: the name, categories, hours, contact details, photos, services, reviews and whether the details match elsewhere.

  • How the score works

Each answer counts for more or less depending on how much it tends to matter to a customer. Yes counts in full, partly counts half.

  • What you get

A score out of 100, a plain reading of it and the three actions that would add the most.

  • What it cannot do

It does not look at your real listing and it cannot promise any position in search. It is a checklist with a score.

About this tool.

Something we haven’t covered? Ask us.

Does this look at my real Google listing?

No. You answer from what you can see on your own listing. Nothing is fetched and nothing is sent anywhere.

Will fixing these make my listing rank first?

We cannot promise that, and nobody honest can. These are the things a customer notices when choosing between businesses, and a complete, current listing gives you a fair chance.

How do I edit my listing?

Search for your business name on Google while signed in to the account that manages it, and use the edit options that appear. If you have lost access, Google has a process for claiming the listing back.

Who should answer the reviews?

The owner or one trusted person, in a plain polite voice, the same working day if possible. A calm reply to a bad review is read by every future customer.
