Local SEO is the work of showing up when someone near you searches for what you do, such as a dentist in Vaishali Nagar, a caterer in Jaipur or a tailor near me. It is not a trick and it has no overnight result. It is a small set of habits, done carefully and kept up. Here is the checklist, in the order most businesses should do it.
1. Your Google Business Profile
- Claim it, and verify it. Our guide on claiming and completing a profile shows the steps.
- Choose the main category that describes your business best, and add secondary ones only where true.
- Fill in hours, phone, website, services and a short honest description.
- Add real photos of the premises, the work and the team.
- Post a short update now and then, and answer questions people ask.
Our Google listing check goes through the main items and shows what is missing.
2. The same name, address and phone everywhere
Write your name, address and phone number once, exactly, and use that wording on your website, your Google profile, your social pages and every directory. Small differences, such as a different spelling of the area or a missing suite number, make it harder for search engines to be sure it is one business. This is called NAP consistency.
3. A page for each thing you do
A website that has one page with everything on it gives a search engine little to match (our web design work builds sites the other way round). Give each main service its own page, in plain words (and check how its title and description will look in results with our search snippet preview), with what you do, who it is for, how it works, a few real examples and how to contact you. Mention the city and the areas you serve where it is true and useful. Do not repeat the same page for twenty areas; that reads as filler.
4. Reviews
Ask every happy customer for a review and reply to all of them. Our guide on getting more Google reviews shows a fair way to ask. Never pay for reviews or choose who to ask.
5. A website that works on a phone
Most local searches happen on a phone. Check that your site opens quickly, reads clearly, has your phone number as a tap-to-call link and shows your address and hours. Our landing page checklist lists the basics.
6. A few real local links
A link to your website from another real site is a sign that someone else thinks you are worth visiting. Good sources are local trade bodies, chambers, suppliers and clients who are glad to mention you, local news if you have a real story, and the main business directories with free listings. Do not buy links, and do not trade them at scale.
| Step | Do | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Claim, verify, complete | Hours, category, photos and website filled in |
| NAP | Pick one wording | It matches on every listing |
| Pages | One per main service | Each answers one question clearly |
| Reviews | Ask and reply | A steady flow, all answered |
| Phone | Test the site on a phone | Fast, readable, tap to call |
| Links | Earn a few real ones | From real sources only |
How to know it is working
Look at the insights in your Google profile for calls, direction requests and website clicks. Add a tag to the website link, so your website analytics show visitors from the profile. Check which searches show your site in Google Search Console, if you have set it up. Judge over months, not days.
If you would like a studio to look at your site and profile together, our brand audit is a free first step, and our digital marketing work covers search and ads for businesses in Jaipur.
