Logo suite
A logo suite is the set of logo versions a brand needs for different uses: a primary version, a stacked or horizontal alternative, a small icon or mark, and one-colour and reversed versions. Together they keep the logo legible on any background and at any size.
In practice
What it means when you are the one making the decision.
A single logo file is rarely enough. A wide logo may be unreadable as a social profile picture, a detailed mark may fail at a small print size, and a full-colour version may disappear on a dark background. A suite plans for those cases in advance.
The suite also records minimum sizes and the clear space around the logo. Supplying the versions as vector files for print and web-ready files for screens saves repeated requests later. Whoever commissions a logo should ask to receive the whole suite and the source files.
Example
A food brand receives a primary logo, a square icon for marketplace listings, a one-colour version for stamping on cartons and a white version for dark packaging.
