# A catalogue plan before you open the app.

Add your collections and items, mark which photos are ready, and read a plain review of what is missing. Copy the result as text, and get a photo shot list for the items that still need a picture.

Your products and prices stay on this page. We never see them.

## The tool

The starter rows are made up. Replace them with your own, or clear a row to leave it out.

Collection 1

Collection name

-

Item 1 namePrice

Description: what it is, size or quantity, how to order

-

Item 2 namePrice

Description: what it is, size or quantity, how to order

-

Item 3 namePrice

Description: what it is, size or quantity, how to order

Collection 2

Up to 8 collections and 120 items. Everything stays on this page.

## The review

3 items entered. Ready score: 83 out of 100.

- Fix"Namkeen mix, 400 g" has no photo ready. A catalogue item without a photo looks unfinished. Use the shot list below.
- Fix"Gift box of three" has no photo ready. A catalogue item without a photo looks unfinished. Use the shot list below.

### Photo rules, in short

- One item per photo, filling most of the frame.
- A plain background: a wall, a sheet of paper or a table with nothing else on it.
- Daylight from a window, not a flash. Turn the item so no glare crosses the label.
- The same angle and distance for every item in a collection, so the grid looks like a set.
- Square or close to square, so nothing important is cut off in the grid.
- No text, watermark or price written over the photo. The price goes in the price field.
- Wipe the lens, hold the phone steady, and take two or three shots of each. Keep the sharpest.

## Before you type it into WhatsApp.

-

### Group the catalogue the way a customer shops

Collections are how people browse. Name them for the customer's question, such as Gifts, Under ₹500 or New this week, not for your own stock room.

-

### Keep names short and make the description do the work

The name sits under a small photo, so it must fit. Put the size or quantity, what is included and how to order in the description, in one or two plain sentences.

-

### Photograph in one sitting

Use the shot list and the photo rules, and take every item in a collection at the same angle and distance. A catalogue of matching photos looks like a shop, not a pile.

-

### Type it in, then check it on another phone

Copy the plan as text and enter it in the app. Open the catalogue from a second phone as a customer would, and fix anything that is cut off or unclear.

## About this tool.

Something we haven’t covered? [Ask us](https://www.ingenioushub.com/contact?from=catalogue-faq).

**What is a WhatsApp catalogue?**

A list of your products or services inside WhatsApp Business. A customer can browse it from the chat without leaving WhatsApp, and you can send them one item or the whole catalogue.

**Do I need the Business app?**

Yes. The catalogue is a WhatsApp Business feature, and the ordinary WhatsApp app does not have it. If you do not see Catalogue under Tools, check that you are in the green WhatsApp Business app.

**Does this tool connect to my WhatsApp?**

No. It is a planning page. You write and review the catalogue here, copy it as text, and then type or paste it into the app yourself. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

**Do I have to show prices?**

No, a price is optional in the app. If you prefer to quote on request, say so in the description so customers do not have to ask. The review marks a missing price as a suggestion, not an error.

**How many photos can an item have, and how long can a name be?**

The limits belong to WhatsApp and they can change, so check the app when you add an item. This planner checks the things that matter on a phone: a short name that fits under the photo, a clear description, and a photo that is ready.

**Can I list services, not only products?**

Yes. The app describes the catalogue as a place to show products and services. Treat each service like an item: a short name, what is included, and how to book.

**How do I share the catalogue?**

From the catalogue screen in the app you can share the whole catalogue or a single item as a link. Put the catalogue link on your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio and your printed material, with a QR code if you like.
